Salvage Row Restored Edwardian Brass Gas Converted Wall Light Single

Originally a gas bracket, converted to electricity at some point before the war and converted again by us to something a modern electrician will sign off. The gas tap is still there and still turns, because removing it would be vandalism.

Everything we sell has been through the same process. Stripped to components, cleaned by hand rather than blasted, rewired end to end with silicone insulated cable, fitted with new lampholders and a proper earth, then PAT tested and certificated. We do not re-plate or re-lacquer unless the original finish has failed, because a hundred years of patina is the reason to buy an antique in the first place. One fitting only. When it is gone it is gone.

Fitting

This is a hardwired fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician working to BS 7671. It arrives with a standard round backplate and fixing screws. Wall plugs are not supplied because the right fixing depends on whether you are going into brick, block, plasterboard or lath and plaster. At roughly 5.2 kilograms it needs a proper fixing. Use the supplied screws into masonry, or a heavy duty plasterboard anchor rated well above the weight of the light. Original backplates are often smaller than a modern pattress, so check what is behind your existing fitting before you take it off the wall.
