The Sconce House is a trading name of HOMART LIMITED, company number 15257354, registered at 30 Uphall Road, Ilford, England, IG1 2JF.
Your right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you may cancel an online order for any reason within 14 days of receiving it. You then have a further 14 days to return the goods to us. We give you 30 days from delivery rather than 14, because a wall light often has to be held up against a wall for a few evenings before anyone knows.
How to return something
- Email support@homartuk.com with your order number and what you are returning.
- We will reply within one working day with a returns address and a reference number.
- Pack the item in its original packaging where possible and include the reference number.
- Send it back using a tracked service. Keep the proof of postage.
Who pays the return postage
If the item is faulty, damaged in transit, or not what you ordered, we pay. We will send a prepaid label or refund your postage.
If you have simply changed your mind, the return postage is yours to pay. For heavy or fragile pieces we can arrange a collection and deduct the cost from your refund; we will tell you the cost before booking it.
Refunds
We refund to your original payment method within 14 days of receiving the goods back, or of receiving proof that you have sent them, whichever is sooner. Refunds include the standard outbound delivery charge. If you chose an express or two person upgrade we refund the standard rate only.
We may reduce a refund to reflect any loss in value caused by handling beyond what is needed to establish the nature and function of the item. Trying a sconce against a wall is fine. Drilling it to a wall, wiring it in and taking it down again is not.
What cannot be returned under the change of mind right
- Bespoke commissions and made to measure work — anything cut, cast, carved, blown or finished to your specification is exempt under Regulation 28(1)(b). This does not affect your rights if the item is faulty.
- Items that have been installed or wired in, unless faulty.
- LED lamps and electrical consumables once the seal is broken, unless faulty.
Restored antiques are returnable in the normal way. They are sold as antique, so their age, patina and minor imperfections are described on the product page and are not faults.
Faulty goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If a fault appears within 30 days you may reject the item for a full refund. Between 30 days and six months we will repair or replace it; if that fails you may claim a refund. After six months the same rights apply but you may need to show the fault was present at delivery.
Unlacquered brass, bronze and copper are supplied to patinate. Darkening, unevenness and verdigris are the intended behaviour of the material and are not faults. Variation in alabaster, hand blown glass and hand thrown ceramic is likewise inherent to the material.
Guarantee
Every fitting carries a two year guarantee against manufacturing defect, and five years on solid brass and cast bronze bodies. Lamps and consumables are excluded. The guarantee is void where a fitting has been installed other than in accordance with BS 7671 or modified.
Complaints and alternative dispute resolution
Email us at support@homartuk.com first and we will try to put it right. If we cannot agree, you may refer the matter to an approved alternative dispute resolution provider, or use the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133. Nothing here affects your statutory rights.
