These terms govern your use of thesconcehouse.com and any order you place with us. Please read them before ordering. Last updated 11 September 2026.
1. Who we are
The Sconce House is a trading name of HOMART LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15257354, with its registered office at 30 Uphall Road, Ilford, England, IG1 2JF. Email support@homartuk.com. Telephone 07868 375682.
2. The contract
Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed only when we send you a dispatch confirmation, or in the case of made to order goods, when we send you an acceptance confirming the piece has entered production. If we cannot accept your order we will tell you and refund you in full.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling and are those displayed at the time you order. Delivery is charged separately and shown at checkout. We take payment at the point of order. If a price is obviously wrong and you could reasonably have recognised it as a mispricing, we may cancel and refund rather than supply at that price.
4. Description of goods
Photographs are indicative. Alabaster, hand blown glass, hand thrown ceramic, cast bronze and restored antiques vary between pieces, and unlacquered metals change colour with time and handling. This variation is inherent to the materials and is described on the relevant product pages. Dimensions are stated on each page and should be treated as accurate to plus or minus 5mm on handmade items.
5. Installation and safety
Hardwired fittings must be installed by a qualified person working to BS 7671 (the IET Wiring Regulations). Bathroom fittings must be installed in the correct zone for their IP rating. We supply fixing screws but not wall plugs, because the correct fixing depends on your wall construction. We are not liable for loss or damage arising from incorrect installation, from exceeding the stated maximum lamp wattage, or from use of a fitting outside its IP rating.
6. Made to order and bespoke work
Made to order and bespoke items are produced to your specification and cannot be cancelled once production has begun, except where they are faulty. We will confirm the specification in writing before starting. Lead times are estimates given in good faith.
7. Returns
Your cancellation and refund rights are set out in full on our Returns and Refunds page, which forms part of these terms.
8. Our liability
We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability in connection with an order is limited to the price paid for that order, and we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business or any indirect or consequential loss. If you are a consumer, we are liable for foreseeable loss caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
9. Events outside our control
We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including carrier failure, material shortage, fire, flood or the failure of a maker’s workshop. Where such an event materially delays an order you may cancel and receive a full refund.
10. Intellectual property
All text, photography and design on this site belong to HOMART LIMITED or our makers and may not be reproduced without written permission.
11. Data
How we handle your personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
13. General
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable the remainder continues to apply. We may update these terms; the version in force is the one published when you place your order.
