Marlow and Reade Milbourne Solid Brass Heavy Bracket with Rise and Fall Wall Light Pair

A wall bracket with a rise and fall movement in the column, so the head travels 250mm vertically. It was drawn for a kitchen over a worktop and turns out to be just as useful over a desk.

Turned and machined from solid brass bar in Birmingham, not spun from sheet and not plated steel. The arms run on machined brass knuckles with PTFE washers, so the movement is smooth from the first day and stays that way. Finishes are applied to the metal itself, so a scratch shows brass underneath rather than a different colour. Sold as a pair for either side of a bed.

Fitting

This is a hardwired fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician working to BS 7671. It arrives with a standard round backplate and fixing screws. Wall plugs are not supplied because the right fixing depends on whether you are going into brick, block, plasterboard or lath and plaster. It is a heavy fitting at roughly 15.2 kilograms, so fix into masonry or into a timber noggin behind plasterboard rather than into the board alone.
