Marlow and Reade Hollis Solid Brass Swing Arm with a Linen Shade Wall Light Plug In

A single jointed swing arm with a hand rolled linen shade. The joint is a brass friction knuckle you tighten with a coin, so the arm stays exactly where you put it instead of drifting down over a month.

Turned and machined from solid brass bar in Birmingham, not spun from sheet and not plated steel. The arms run on machined brass knuckles with PTFE washers, so the movement is smooth from the first day and stays that way. Finishes are applied to the metal itself, so a scratch shows brass underneath rather than a different colour. Supplied as a plug in fitting with a two metre braided flex, a moulded UK plug and an inline switch.

Fitting

This is a plug in fitting, so no electrician is needed. Two keyhole slots on the backplate take a pair of screws, and the flex drops from the lower edge of the backplate. If you would rather run the cable down inside the wall, an electrician can convert it to a hardwired fitting and the flex simply comes off. At roughly 3.8 kilograms it needs a proper fixing. Use the supplied screws into masonry, or a heavy duty plasterboard anchor rated well above the weight of the light.
