Marlow and Reade Barlow Compact Picture Light 300mm

A battery picture light with a magnetic mount, for a wall that has no wiring and a picture that will move again next year. Six months on a charge at two hours a night.

Small pictures are lit badly more often than large ones, usually by something far too bright hung far too high. A compact picture light sits close to the frame and throws a short, even wash down the face of the work. The board is CRI 90 or better because colour matters more than brightness on anything painted, and the whole run is on one 2700K bin so a group of them matches. This one runs off a rechargeable cell, so there is no wiring at all.

Fitting

This is a plug in fitting, so no electrician is needed. Two keyhole slots on the backplate take a pair of screws, and the flex drops from the lower edge of the backplate. If you would rather run the cable down inside the wall, an electrician can convert it to a hardwired fitting and the flex simply comes off. At roughly 1.3 kilograms it is light enough for a good quality plasterboard anchor if there is no timber behind.
