Foundry Nine Mendip Cast Bronze Knot Bracket Wall Light Antique Verdigris

A length of bronze rope tied in a wall knot, cast from a real hemp original so the lay of the strands survives in the metal. It suits a panelled room or a boot room where a delicate fitting would look out of place.

Cast by the lost wax method in a Somerset foundry. A wax original is invested in a ceramic shell, the wax is burned out and the bronze is poured into the void that is left, which is why the surface holds so much detail. Every casting is then chased, patinated and waxed by hand. Sold singly with the verdigris patina, which is brought up chemically by hand and then waxed.

Fitting

This is a hardwired fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician working to BS 7671. It arrives with a standard round backplate and fixing screws. Wall plugs are not supplied because the right fixing depends on whether you are going into brick, block, plasterboard or lath and plaster. At roughly 5.2 kilograms it needs a proper fixing. Use the supplied screws into masonry, or a heavy duty plasterboard anchor rated well above the weight of the light.
