Atelier Sconce House Bespoke Bronze Casting From Your Own Pattern

If you have a pattern, a carving or a piece of architectural salvage, we can mould it and cast it in bronze as a wall light. This is the most involved thing we do and the most satisfying.

Bespoke work runs to a set sequence so nobody is surprised. You tell us what you need, we quote, you pay a fifty per cent deposit, we issue a drawing or a sample for your approval, and only then do we start making. The balance falls due when the piece is ready to leave the workshop. Nothing goes into production without your signature on the drawing.

• Height as specified, width as specified, projection from the wall as specified
• Materials: specified at order, see the notes below
• Finish: any standard finish, or a bespoke finish matched to your sample
• Lamp: specified at order, all our fittings are dimmable unless you ask otherwise
• Supply: hardwired, 220 to 240V, 50Hz, terminal block behind the backplate
• Switching: no integral switch, wired to a wall switch or a dimmer circuit
• Rating: IP20, for dry indoor rooms
• Backplate: sized to cover your existing fixing where possible
• Sizing: pattern up to 500mm in the longest dimension
• Approximate weight: 12.0 kilograms
• Silicone mould taken from your pattern, pattern returned
• Wax pulled and finished before investment so you approve the detail
• Patina chosen from samples on the actual casting
• Deposit: 50 per cent at order, balance before dispatch
• Bespoke items are exempt from the 14 day cancellation right once making has begun

Fitting

This is a hardwired fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician working to BS 7671. It arrives with a standard round backplate and fixing screws. Wall plugs are not supplied because the right fixing depends on whether you are going into brick, block, plasterboard or lath and plaster. It is a heavy fitting at roughly 12.0 kilograms, so fix into masonry or into a timber noggin behind plasterboard rather than into the board alone. We will send a mounting drawing with the quotation so your electrician can prepare the wall before delivery.
