Vetro Bianco Palladio Hand Blown Glass Opal Globe on Brass Wall Light

A hand blown opal globe held in a brass ring. Opal glass is blown in two layers, a white gather inside a clear one, and that is what stops the lamp showing as a bright point through the wall of the globe.

Blown by mouth on the Venetian lagoon by a workshop we have bought from for years. Nothing is pressed and nothing is moulded except where the pattern needs a mould, so no two pieces are identical in wall thickness or in the exact set of the shoulder. Brass parts are made in England and the two are married here. Sold singly.

Fitting

This is a hardwired fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician working to BS 7671. It arrives with a standard round backplate and fixing screws. Wall plugs are not supplied because the right fixing depends on whether you are going into brick, block, plasterboard or lath and plaster. At roughly 3.2 kilograms it is light enough for a good quality plasterboard anchor if there is no timber behind.
