Description

An articulated arm balanced by a solid brass counterweight, the drawing office pattern. The balance means you move it with one finger and it stays put, which no friction joint quite manages.

Turned and machined from solid brass bar in Birmingham, not spun from sheet and not plated steel. The arms run on machined brass knuckles with PTFE washers, so the movement is smooth from the first day and stays that way. Finishes are applied to the metal itself, so a scratch shows brass underneath rather than a different colour. Sold as a pair for either side of a bed.

Fitting

This is a hardwired fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician working to BS 7671. It arrives with a standard round backplate and fixing screws. Wall plugs are not supplied because the right fixing depends on whether you are going into brick, block, plasterboard or lath and plaster. It is a heavy fitting at roughly 13.6 kilograms, so fix into masonry or into a timber noggin behind plasterboard rather than into the board alone.
