A spun brass cone on an adjustable arm, the shade deep enough to keep the lamp out of the eye of anyone lying down. This is the one people buy for a bedside when they read and their partner does not.

Turned and machined from solid brass bar in Birmingham, not spun from sheet and not plated steel. The arms run on machined brass knuckles with PTFE washers, so the movement is smooth from the first day and stays that way. Finishes are applied to the metal itself, so a scratch shows brass underneath rather than a different colour. Sold singly.

Fitting

This is a hardwired fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician working to BS 7671. It arrives with a standard round backplate and fixing screws. Wall plugs are not supplied because the right fixing depends on whether you are going into brick, block, plasterboard or lath and plaster. At roughly 3.1 kilograms it is light enough for a good quality plasterboard anchor if there is no timber behind.
