Foundry Nine Netherby Cast Bronze Bronze Arm with a Stitched Leather Shade Wall Light

A plain bronze arm with a shade of vegetable tanned leather, saddle stitched by hand along the seam. The leather darkens with use and with the heat of the lamp, which is the whole idea.

Cast by the lost wax method in a Somerset foundry. A wax original is invested in a ceramic shell, the wax is burned out and the bronze is poured into the void that is left, which is why the surface holds so much detail. Every casting is then chased, patinated and waxed by hand. Sold singly.

Fitting

This is a hardwired fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician working to BS 7671. It arrives with a standard round backplate and fixing screws. Wall plugs are not supplied because the right fixing depends on whether you are going into brick, block, plasterboard or lath and plaster. At roughly 4.6 kilograms it needs a proper fixing. Use the supplied screws into masonry, or a heavy duty plasterboard anchor rated well above the weight of the light.
