Foundry Nine Mendip Cast Bronze Knot Bracket Wall Light Pair

A length of bronze rope tied in a wall knot, cast from a real hemp original so the lay of the strands survives in the metal. It suits a panelled room or a boot room where a delicate fitting would look out of place.

Cast by the lost wax method in a Somerset foundry. A wax original is invested in a ceramic shell, the wax is burned out and the bronze is poured into the void that is left, which is why the surface holds so much detail. Every casting is then chased, patinated and waxed by hand. Sold as a pair, poured from the same mould in the same session so the patina matches.

Fitting

This is a hardwired fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician working to BS 7671. It arrives with a standard round backplate and fixing screws. Wall plugs are not supplied because the right fixing depends on whether you are going into brick, block, plasterboard or lath and plaster. It is a heavy fitting at roughly 10.4 kilograms, so fix into masonry or into a timber noggin behind plasterboard rather than into the board alone.
